About Rockskolan Staffanstorp...
Rockskolan started as an experiment in Lund 2004 within a booking agency that was coordinating and producing tours and concerts within the rock and metal genres. The idea to actually teach students what they wanted to learn was so revolutionary at the time, that Rockskolan soon opened up in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö aswell. The school in Staffanstorp opened up in 2013 and students may choose where to have their lessons - as an example, many of our younger students go to school in the nearby cities of Lund and Malmö and choose to have their music activities in connection.
In Staffanstorp we grew together with SouthSound Studios at "Skåningen" - a big farm house close to Netto, where the lessons were hosted in rehearsal rooms and studios side by side with the local music community. Currently, lessons are held at the Cultural Center of Staffanstorp; Medborgarhuset, which is a fully equipped concert venue with two big stages. You will be having your lessons here, but ususally backstage.
The courses range from rock instrument training such as piano, bass, drums, guitar and vocals to more composed activities like songwrting, music production and playing in bands.
As the only school in Scandinavia, Rockskolan is selected as partner with the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London. This means a lot of possibilities for those of our students who want to study music at university level, and provides a network of music schools and opportunities internationally.
The municipaity of Staffanstorp pays the fee for young inhabitants
The municipaity of Staffanstorp uniquely offers all inhabitants aged 7-19 the privilege to choose whichever music school they wish, and it pays for this with a so called culture -or music vouchers. The price of a semester at Rockskolan Staffanstorp is therefore about 5 times less expensive than in other municipalities, if you are between 7 and 19 years and registered in Staffanstorp.
Registration, fees and Limitations
When enrolling, you use the booking system system of Staffanstorp called StudyAlong instead of rockskolan.com and Instead of paying to Rockskolan, you will recive two invoices per semester from Staffanstorp Municipality. The rate is 2 x 750 SEK for private or small groups tuition and 2 x 375 SEK for big group activities. This privilige is limited to one course per person.
