A Swedish School of Rock?
In 2009 we moved in and had our first lessons at Malmskillnadsgatan 49 - between the French School and a place then called KGB Bar.
When you are invited in to the entrance you are standing in what used to be the reception of Rockskolan Stockholm - a very narrow room, with a very high ceiling and a strange echo, You have 3 square meters at your disposal. You will eventually find the secret elevator that takes you underground, you enter one of the rehearsal rooms and start unpacking your instrument. If you reached this far you're in good company - As a student at Rockskolan Stockholm you share rehearsal rooms with many big swedish artists and bands, record labels and booking agencies - such as Live Nation.
The history of Rockskolan Stockholm starts as a project within a swedish booking agency scheduling european tours with international metal bands. Skåne and Stockholm are natural stops for tour buses going through Europe. The Rockskolan Experiment had been going on for 5 years already in Skåne and there was a network of musicians, teachers, and music business people who were ready to help with the establishment in Stockholm aswell.
Among our first partners, teachers and friends in Stockholm are Driv, Dezpotz Records, Lena who was a music teacher from the Scandinavian School in Brussels and became head our premier staff. Kristin Amparo, Aksel Odenbalk from Daniel Adams Ray's band; our piano teacher and general advisor, Ivan Höglund and Adde Eriksson from Crazy Lixx and Pretty Wild who were apprecciated teachers at Rockskolan in both Stockholm and Skåne.
